Consider college in Canada

Canada has several universities that are as well-known worldwide and academically excellent as any in the United States. Some reasons you might want to consider going to college there include:

• Gaining an international perspective and living in a society distinct from American society.
• Cost: since Canada's major universities are publically suported, tuition charges (even for American students) are about half what a private American university would charge, and less than the out-of-state tuition at most American state universities. If you have Canadian citizenship, then it's really cheap!
• You have some family tie to Canada, or are interested in living there.
• You love winter (although it's not that cold in coastal British Columbia.)

Several Canadian Universities with international reputations include:

McGill University in Montreal (instruction has always been in English, even though Montreal is in French-speaking Quebec.) A Drake student recently went here.

The University of Toronto - Canada's largest and best known.

The University of British Columbia, in Vancouver. (And if you like that part of the world Simon Fraser University and the University of Victoria are nearby on British Columbia's coast.)

Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
